Tesco Shrewsbury

Tesco wanted to take a holistic approach to rolling out the eco format to the next eco-store, in Shrewsbury. This would help them move towards the ultimate goal: the eco-upgrade of all stores in the estate.

Tesco Shrewsbury

The 60% target

Integrity provided the detailed strategy and insights in a business case, which helped the Property Team gain board approval. We organised resource planning, set up reporting processes and clarified the objectives. With a target to reduce carbon emissions by 60%, we performed a cost and eco-benefit analysis of all the kit and equipment. Working closely with Tesco’s leadership team and supply chain meant we had all the key people lined up to enable us to increase innovations across the store. The result was the introduction of over 100 eco-friendly equipment initiatives.

In-store technology

One of the exciting, new features Integrity helped develop in just four months, was an interactive terminal. Linked up to the store’s solar panels, it enabled customers to see how much energy the store saved each day via an interactive touchscreen. They could even pick up tips on making their own homes greener.

This was a first for a supermarket and required unique technology. So we not only had to find shop fitter and hardware providers for the build of the terminal but also commission software developers for the technology and designers for the on-screen presentation that brought it to life.

The result was an on-screen interface that was easy to navigate and had a distinctive Tesco ethos and tone of voice. It’s proved a huge success with customers of all ages, and Tesco now see the potential of interactive messaging at stores across the country.
