
Managing complexities
Our first step was to partner Virgin’s internal procurement team to help in the purchase of set top boxes, modems, Sky Plus systems and remote controls from a myriad of suppliers such as Samsung. We then had a massive logistics exercise on our hands, managing everything from installers who went directly into people’s homes, to ensuring electrical retailers were ready for launch day with Virgin Media products on the shelves.
But it didn’t end there. Even if a customer still had old NTL branded equipment, we made sure they received the new Virgin Media Smart Card, Welcome pack and updated on-screen graphics and instructions. That way we created as much ‘penetration’ of the new brand into customers’ homes as possible.
