Architectural Designer
You’ve completed your Part 1 Architecture degree. But what if you’re not sure that becoming an architect is actually where you want to go next?
At Integrity, we offer a different route into the world of design.
We’re a brand programming and design consultancy working with some fantastic clients including Waitrose, Volkswagen, Peabody, CenterParcs, AXA and Taylor Wimpey. Our work sits at the point where brands, buildings, spaces and customer experiences come together.
We’re looking for someone with an architectural design background to join our team and help us develop and deliver branded environments across a wide variety of projects.
You might be working on a Waitrose store one minute, shaping how signage and brand elements work within the architecture; the next, switching to a completely different project and collaborating with architects, contractors and suppliers to bring a brand to life in the real world.
It’s a role where the skills you’ve developed through architecture are incredibly valuable - but you don’t need to become an architect to use them.
We work together in our Kent studio on Mondays and Tuesdays, with flexible home working Wednesday–Friday.
What you’ll be doing
- Developing site-specific design packs, plans and elevations showing how brand, signage and environmental elements work within buildings and spaces
- Working from architectural information and surveys to develop practical design solutions
- Using your spatial and 3D thinking to understand how people experience and move through environments
- Working with our senior designers and consultants on projects for some of the UK’s best-known brands
- Attending site surveys, design meetings and project workshops
- Working alongside architects, contractors, manufacturers, developers and client teams
- Developing ideas from initial thinking through to the detailed information needed to make them happen
- Gradually taking on your own projects and client responsibility as your experience grows
Who we’re looking for
You may have recently completed a Part 1 Architecture degree, or have spent a little time in architectural practice and realised that traditional architecture might not be the career you want.
We’re less interested in exactly what job title you’ve had and more interested in the way you think.
You’ll probably enjoy solving spatial and design problems, be comfortable working with plans and elevations, have good 3D and visualisation skills and, importantly, enjoy getting into the detail of how things actually get made and implemented.
Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud required, alongside architectural drawing/3D software, but we’re interested in your potential as much as the software you already know.
A different kind of design career
Integrity is an independent consultancy and that means people here tend to get opportunities much earlier than they would in a large architectural practice or agency.
You won’t spend years doing one small part of somebody else’s project. You’ll see projects develop, meet clients, visit sites, work with suppliers and gradually take responsibility for making things happen.
You’ll have a coach to support your development and there’s plenty of opportunity for the role to develop in different directions – environmental design, wayfinding, brand implementation, design management, customer experience or consultancy... and culture genuinely matters to us.
We work hard and take our clients seriously, but we’re a close team. Mondays start with everyone getting together, there are regular team lunches and design exchanges, occasional gallery trips and rounders, frequent office-dog visits and a permanently stocked cookie jar.
