For this #meettheteam interview, we are getting to know our placement student, Yasmine. She is studying Industrial Design and Technology (BA) at Brunel University and has recently finished her second year before joining us in June.
So let’s get started!
How long have you been at Integrity and what have you been working on?
Since starting last June I’ve been involved with numerous projects that include some big names, which alone is super exciting! I have been working on a myriad of brand guidelines, brand consistency and wayfinding projects with each project presenting new challenges. It's been great to develop my skills and put things I’ve learnt from one project into another.
Tea or coffee?
When I’m in the office I don’t always have a hot drink as I mostly just drink water, but a black coffee can be a great start to the day. But when I’m in my hometown of Canterbury I cannot resist going to Canteen, a local coffee shop, for an Almond Milk Cappuccino.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
It's hard to admit to myself but think it would have to be my love for bad reality tv! I started watching it after thriller shows to help me relax before bed, but I’ve become quite invested in some of the shows… Love Island and Teen Mom are my two favourites although the latest series of Love Island has been a bit disappointing so I haven’t been keeping up with it.
What's your favourite animated movie?
It’s quite tough to choose one but I would probably say Monsters, Inc. it’s a classic! If you haven’t seen it, you should watch it straight away!
Can you remember what it was that made you want to get into this field?
I’ve always been creative, and when finding out about industrial design in 6th form it felt like the perfect combination of all the things I loved, I particularly enjoy how broad it is - you never know where a project may lead you!
Favourite youtube video?
My favourite video by far is a clip from an animal planet documentary where baby sloths get given a bath and are hung out to dry, you just can’t get any more adorable than that.
When are you most creative?
I think that I am definitely most productive in the mornings, ideas just seem to flow better, which sounds strange but I love to make the most of the day.
What have you achieved that you're most proud of?
It’s always tricky to choose one, but I think it would probably be when I was a finalist for the Turner Contemporary Competition. I painted an oil painting of a half-eaten packet of Polos, it was fun to paint but definitely a challenge to complete! Although I didn't win it was such an honour to be considered.
What’s your favourite board game?
I’m not going to lie it’s been a while since I have played a board game, but I used to love Cranium, you have to complete challenges such as spelling a word backwards, drawing with your eyes closed, and solving puzzles before the time runs out. It’s a great game but it’s made even better when your team win!
Who’s your celebrity doppelganger?
I really struggled with this one, even after asking everyone in the office! It took a while but we finally agreed that Kristen Stewart is a good doppelganger for me, and I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of it before! She has my main two traits, she’s brunette and pale-skinned.
Can you draw us a self-portrait, please?
